The 9th Belgrade Boat Carnival

Love is on the Rivers

Under this year’s slogan „Love is on the rivers“, the Tourist Organization of Belgrade is inviting you to the 9th Belgrade Boat Carnival, which is organized with the support of the Assembly of the City of Belgrade and numerous Friends of the Carnival.

On the 7th of July, visitors will experience a carnival parade of decorated boats, acrobatics on the river, enterntainment activities on the water banks and several music concerts on the Sava Passenger Dock, at Karadjordjeva street 6, from 4pm to 10.30pm.

The Carnival will be opened by the Police orchestra and the Carnival groups, followed the parade of decorated boats from Belgrade marinas. Thanks to the Tourist Agency „Oscar Tours“, the „First Steamship Company“ and the „Luka Beograd“ International passenger terminal, one of four river cruises River Cloud will ceremonially sail out before the boat parade.

During the river parade, the entertainment on the water banks includes carnival groups, magicians, animators and many other participants. The best carnival costumes and the best decorated boats will be rewarded and all visitors will be able to enjoy a free river cruise from 5 to 8pm. Departures for free cruising will be at the end of „Beton hall“.

According to the slogan „Love is on the rivers“, a lottery will be organized as an initiative to inspire people to interact and gain new friends. All visitors will be able to get free numbered badges in the promo stands. The badges for the ladies will be green and the gentlemen will get blue. Couples whose numbers match will receive prizes. To support this romantic theme, a ceremonial sending of heart shaped helium baloons with love messages will be sent to the sky.  These love messages will be written by guests on Visit Belgrade’s Facebook page.

The most important cities on the river Danube, Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest and Belgrade, will have their info desks at the Carnival, in order to promote the Danube river and its nautical tourism in this part of Europe. This type of tourism is one of the main segments that aids to the overall tourism developement of Serbia.

Two environmental campaigns will take place during the Carnival to show the social responsibility of the event. Guests will be able to recharge their mobile devices at the Carnival by using only solar energy from the Strawberry Tree. They will also learn how to put recycling in practice and the importance of preserving the enviroment through workshops.

Being the traditional Belgrade manifestation, the Boat Carnival promotes the nautical life of the Capital, welcoming guests who visit our city by boats and dedicates the Carnival to the Sava and Danube rivers and their Confluence. The additional slogan of the Carnival is „At the happy buoy“ in honor of the buoy located at the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers, being the place were over a dozen of European rivers flow together along the Danube.

RTV Studio B will broadcast the Carnival from 5.30 to 7pm and from 9 to 10pm.

The event supports Belgrade’s candidacy for European Capital of Culture 2020.
