The Museum of Pedagogy

The edifice housing the Museum of Pedagogy was built around 1840 as a family home of Cvetko Rajović, the manager of the Town of Belgrade. The building was designed by Franc Janke, the first national architect in Serbia, and represents a cultural monument today.

The first Realka High school in Belgrade was opened in this building in the second half of the 19th century. Today, theMuseum’s permanent exhibition The Ten Centuries of the Serbian School tells a story to its visitors about the history of schools in Serbia from the 9th until the beginning of the 20th century. It accomplishes this in an organized and simple way, through authentic objects, documents, photographs and books.
