The edifice housing the Museum of Pedagogy was built around 1840 as a family home of Cvetko Rajović, the manager of the Town of Belgrade. The building was designed by Franc Janke, the first national architect in Serbia, and represents a cultural monument today.

The first Realka High school in Belgrade was opened in this building in the second half of the 19^th century. Today, theMuseum’s permanent exhibition The Ten Centuries of the Serbian School tells a story to its visitors about the history of schools in Serbia from the 9^th until the beginning of the 20^th century. It accomplishes this in an organized and simple way, through authentic objects, documents, photographs and books.
