The Belgrade New Year’s Eve Celebration

New Year’s Concert in Plateau in front of the House of the National  Assembly on 31 December 2011

The Belgrade New Year’s Eve celebration in public squares is for a long time already a recognizable brand, not only in Belgrade, but in the whole region as well. It is distinguished by a special Belgrade spirit, which empowered and strengthened by well-conceived New Year’s programs, offers a unique, unforgettable good time and fun to all Belgrade citizens, but also to welcomed guests from all corners of the globe. Program, concept, events, message that we send to the world, form a unique, diverting , but also cultured style of our capital. On the basis of our experience till now, the most successful version of a New Year’s Eve celebration in Belgrade proved to be a music program on an impressive stage in front of the House of the National Assembly.

On December 31, the City of Belgrade will  make a gift to its citizens and guests and will organize a spectacular New Year’s Eve 2012 Celebration in Plateau in front of the House of the National Assembly.

Open Heart Square

The City Assembly and the Belgrade Cultural Network present: Open Heart Square

During the New Year and Christmas holidays, the merry atmosphere of the European metropolises is completed by traditional festivals – romantic winter details and cottages from which magnificent scents of cakes, cooked wine, tea and other tasteful drinks and snacks fill the air. This year, Belgrade has its cozy festive corner – “Open Heart Square“. This manifestation is realized within the New Year’s program “Open Heart City”, organized by the City of Belgrade.

The main idea of the “Open Heart Square“ is to make a recognizable festive atmosphere in the very heart of Belgrade. Tastefully decorated wooden cottages, grouped together to symbolize a small town square, will be found in the Republic Square in the period from 12 December 2011 -  20 January 2012. In the center of the ”Open Heart Square” will be a stage where a music and entertaining program will be organized. MCs will be prominent musicians, Dejan Cukić and Igor Blažević – Dirty Inspector Blaža. The formal opening of the manifestation will be on 12 December at 12.00, and it will be opened every day from 10.00-23.00, except on 31 December, when the working hours will be prolonged till 2:00 after midnight.

Beside the performers who will appear on the stage, the main radio partner Hit Music FM Radio will take care of the music selection that will accompany the manifestation. During the manifestation, the visitors will have a chance to enjoy the products and interesting promotions of numerous friends of the ”Open Heart Square”, among which are: Maxi, Grand kafa, Knjaz Miloš, Tikveš, Delta Generali, Wurst Platz, Chimney Cake, Dexy Co., and others.

In compliance with the holiday spirit, this manifestation will also have a humanitarian character. By buying a New Year’s ”Open Heart City” Coffee  Mug at a price of 150 dinars, each visitor will help to raise funds for the donation of the Assembly of the City of Belgrade, ”The Belgrade Baby Club”. Everyone who buys the New Year’s Mug will have a nice unique souvenir of the City of Belgrade, but will be also able to drink from it some of the warm beverages that will be sold in the cottages.

Also, friend of the manifestation, Grand kafa, donated 5 thousand euros for the procurement of specialized learning materials for the library of toys in Kindergarten ”Vesna“ in Padinska Skela. This kindergarten, beside regular groups, includes a group of children with disabilities. In compliance with contemporary trends these children participate in the activities alongside their peers.

The Belgrade Baby Club

The City of Belgrade initiated on 1 January 2011 ”The Belgrade Baby Club“ Project, as one of the activities within the child and family care. Within this Project, every baby born in Belgrade and the baby’s mother get a gift package worth approximately 12,000 dinars, in which  everything necessary for the baby and mother care in the first days of baby’s life is found. In this way, the City of Belgrade wishes to support families with babies to begin in an easier and  serene manner their most important and most beautiful role in life, the parent role.

From 1 January to 1 December 2011, 17,800 gift packages for the necessary baby and mother care were donated in Belgrade. The Projects has been expanded to 40 undeveloped Serbian municipalities, where till now more than 3,500 baby gift packages were donated. After this year’s successful implementation, the ”Belgrade Baby Club” Project is going to be continued in the next year as well with the aim to become part of regular activities of the City of Belgrade.
